Commercial Director



As the Commercial Director, you will inspire, manage and develop high performing business development and sales teams whose goals will be to not only nurture our existing clients but to onboard new ones. Under your guidance, they will operate to a high standard ensuring a high customer advocacy, growth and sustainability.

This role will require you to be proactive when approaching the development and implementation of the commercial strategy. You will report directly into the CEO and hold all responsibility for Business Development, Marketing and Sales activities across the organisation. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the CEO on business strategy, business development, operations and planning
  • Lead the strategy for expanding revenue growth in new and existing markets through sales and marketing strategies. Lead on the creation and delivery of the company's marketing strategy
  • Manage and improve promotional and lead generation campaigns and events
  • Develop, implement and oversee commercial strategy for the Group ensuring the company accelerates its sales growth and moves towards sustainable profitability
  • To be able to sell the complete Group product / services portfolio
  • Lead and manage the creation of annual marketing and sales budgets
  • To understand and develop the commercial trading environment conducive to achieving the required objectives of the Group as a whole
  • To develop and test pricing models to ensure we provide competitive pricing to our client’s trends
  • Gain insight in the market to identify growth areas for the business
  • Understanding and implementing procedures to meet contractual obligations with clients and suppliers
  • Maintain a high awareness and knowledge of the marketplace, including industry, competitors and internal activities to ensure that all business opportunities are identified, considered and implemented appropriately
  • Collaboratively work with Operations Director to develop MI capability in line with Group’s propositions, product roadmap and to exceed customer’s expectation on performance.
  • Work with other markets within the business to identify opportunities to up sell into a contracted solution
  • Develop and nurture relationships with our customers and partners
  • Go above and beyond business targets for value added service revenues and customer satisfaction
  • Work closely with senior management to prioritise product development and roadmaps
  • Manage the existing client base to retain and grow revenues

Person Specification

  • A trusted advisor to your customers and peers, and able to pull on past experiences to provide prospects and customers with a vision of how our services will support their goals
  • Experienced in managing and growing sales teams, expanding to new markets, and developing sales and marketing strategies to support rapid growth
  • Experience in leading sales and marketing teams of various levels of experience in multiple locations
  • An organized methodical approach to getting the job done
  • Interested in all things data marketing
  • Experience in developing brand strategies, marketing collateral, and translating company culture, experience and values into effective marketing campaigns
  • Experienced in acting within published commercial, contractual and legislation guidelines, making effective use of escalation routes
  • Driving revenue through new partners in line with the product strategy - via brands and other marketing service providers 
  • Articulate this proposition in original and impactful ways
  • Assesses future business requirements and create plans to achieve
