Our client is looking for a Supply Chain Director - this role reports directly to the CEO and is a key member of the Leadership team. You will be responsible for the current stock turnover as they embark on their next growth phase.

You will have a strong SME background and have previously navigated businesses successfully through growth challenges to help ensure that end to end supply chain is fit for purpose to serve the company and its clients. Your role encompasses 4 key areas of responsibility: Logistics, Supplier Management, Purchasing and Inventory management.

You will have expertise in negotiating supplier contracts, creating and analyzing bids and making recommendations as to how to grow and improve the business through strategic sourcing and effective processing and warehousing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for managing inventory within budgeted value and stock days
  • Be responsible for continuous improvement of inventory management end to end delivering tangible benefits such as stock day reduction, inventory value reduction and stock obsolescence
  • Be responsible for keeping the SLT up to date with supply chain matters and to contribute to the development of the whole business
  • Develop relationships in the marketplace to understand and stay abreast of industry changes which may impact various business management programs as it relates to pricing trends and new products
  • Develop and meet inventory goals for the company which effectively balance cash-flow, industry leading product lead-times, and inventory turn rates
  • Ensure all supplier contracts are complete, properly executed, and have considered all cost variables, including the unbundling of freight. Work with transportation in determining optimal delivery terms, rates, and freight class
  • Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production, and distribution capabilities, transportation cost, and supplier's reputation and performance history
  • Support the company in purchasing and production planning and making sure the business is adequately resourced
  • Lead the development of a distribution infrastructure that supports our clients in the most cost effective and efficient manner

Person Specification

  • Excellent communication skills and business acumen
  • Proven experience managing budgets and costs effectively in respect of the purchasing and processing processes
  • Demonstrable experience developing and implementing new policies and procedures relating to the supply process
  • Product compliance: ensuring that the products we are selling, looking to range are in line with the rules and regulations (laws) formulated for those products
  • The ability to manage multiple, complex projects and changing priorities; works extended hours when required, make sound decisions under pressure, and work effectively in a team environment
  • Excellent working knowledge of import / export rules and regulations to ensure we are working within these when sourcing / distributing product
  • Proven knowledge when creating a transparent supply chain so to prove chain of custody from source to final destination
  • A proven leader who motivates all your staff to achieve their goals
  • An organised methodical approach to getting the job done
  • Focused to ensure tasks assigned are completed within desired timescales
