Finance Manager



Are you an ACA or CIMA qualified Finance professional? Our client, based in Mitcham, is seeking a Finance Manager to join their team. You will be reporting directly to the Finance Director, but will also be heavily involved with the Leadership team to grow the business and meet its potential.

This role serves as the “go-to” person for all associates on accounting issues and daily financial matters. You will be using independent judgment and accounting principles to compile advanced financial information, reconcile and control financial data in order to provide accurate and useful information for management. You will also be setting up and managing financial processes to ensure compliance with legal and company rules.

This is a full-time role, with benefits including 30 days annual leave per year (inclusive of bank holidays) and an auto-enrolment pension scheme with up to 3% matched by the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production of monthly management accounts submitted to head office within a short timetable
  • Reviewing and analysing financial data for accuracy, identifying and solving more complex problems, and supporting daily operations of the department/division
  • Reconciling and confirming general ledger accuracy, including preparation of journal entries and account analysis
  • Preparing monthly accounts and recognising, recommending and correcting general ledger discrepancies
  • Managing a team of three employees, including advice, training, and recruiting of replacement or additional staff when necessary
  • Working with IT and other departments to develop ERP system and improve processes throughout the organisation to increase efficiency, accuracy and effectiveness and improve controls
  • Primary contact for auditors; preparing financial information for auditors, responsible for arranging audit timetable and ensuring auditors are provided with all necessary information
  • Processing, summarizing and reporting on advanced financial transactions in order to provide accurate, timely and useful information to management
  • Keeping up to date with changing accounting practices and using financial software to maximise departmental efficiencies
  • Occasionally serve in a lead capacity on special projects, mentor and training co-workers
  • Corresponding with tax authorities, headquarters management and others as needed to correctly report financial information

Person Specification

  • Educated to graduate degree level (2:1 minimum)
  • ACA or CIMA qualified
  • Industry experience useful but not essential
  • Strong IT Skills, specifically in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced) and some Word and PowerPoint
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills, including time management
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to build supplier and client relationships
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Problem solving and creative solution driven
  • Target driven and highly self-motivated
