Our global client is looking to recruit an IT Procurement Team Leader to manage their supply of IT products and services aligned with procurement guidelines set by SAS team at their Bankside offices, occasionally working at other London and UK locations.

The key focus of this role will be on centralising procurement processes, developing strong supplier relationships, and drive all cost reduction targets. You will be representing the client’s IT values with both internal and external colleagues and suppliers.

The core hours are Monday to Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm, although occasionally there will be a need to be available outside of office hours to discuss or meet with other clients and customers in different time zones.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure the team are working in accordance to the client’s procurement policies
  • Provide subject matter expertise on the procurement process for the team and agencies for relevant categories of spend
  • Work with the team in line with global guidance to develop, implement and support improvements the procurement services
  • Promote and develop the interaction with agency financial teams by demonstrating approval process and accountability to improve the centralisation of the procurement function
  • Provide Leadership to the UK procurement team by providing support and ensuring adequate resourcing is available to cover the needed activities and deliverables
  • Ensure the procurement process is conducted in conformity with the client’s procurement policies
  • Look to enhance and evolve the process to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the way the client procures its goods and services
  • To work with global procurement team in order to develop and maintain appropriate systems of internal control to enable the purchasing function to operate effectively, efficiently and ethically
  • To assist in the management of supplier contracts ensuring that regular supplier reviews and monitoring take place
  • To develop and maintain relationships both internally with all staff and externally with suppliers to ensure the smooth operation of the procurement function
  • Monitor business trends and product availability to update processes to continue the best practice and cost for goods and services without sacrificing quality or delivery times
  • Nurture relationships with suppliers to negotiate the best processes and cost in line with the client’s guidelines
  • Research new products and services to meet company goals
  • Work with SAS to identify and research potential new suppliers to meet the company’s IT requirements

Person Specification

  • Excellent problem-solving skills; knowledge of tools and techniques for recognising, anticipating, and resolving process problems related to key applications
  • Must be able to work on multiple requests concurrently and prioritize tasks to ensure that delivery times are met
  • Detail oriented, excellent decision-making and critical-thinking skill
  • Self-motivated; able to work well independently
  • Must be able to communicate technical terms and descriptions to business users
  • Excellent at establishing strong working partnerships with colleagues
  • Must understand how to organise and work with data
  • Strong Excel or other reporting platform skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including negotiating with staff and suppliers
  • Ability to perform Data Analysis on current and historical spend to make recommendations for efficiencies in cost and procurement process
  • Work with SAS to make recommendations based on spend analysis for increasing efficiencies in the procurement process
  • Manage the procurement process across the variety of supplier portals and websites
  • Knowledge of Supply Management Software, Database Management, Inventory Management, Financial Analysis, Point of Sale, Procurement
  • Specialism in aspects of the procurement such as mobile contract, mobile management, vendor portal management
