Salary: £24,000 - £25,000

Switchboard Operator


£24,000 - £25,000

Working Monday to Friday 7.30am-4.30pm, 8am-5pm, 8.30am-5.30pm with one Saturday per month working 9am-12.30pm.

Our highly successful client is looking for an experienced Switchboard Operator to assist in providing a proactive service to their customers and clients. This company is an expanding business that has an exceptional brand identity, therefore you should be committed to delivering high quality customer service at all times in order to maintain their reputation for quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Switchboard and cover for reception

  • Answer incoming calls, greeting callers, providing information, transferring calls and/or taking messages

  • Route emergency calls appropriately

  • Contact staff to inform them of telephone calls and visitors

  • Perform clerical duties - sorting mail etc.

  • Monitor unanswered calls and bounce backs

  • Dealing with customers in a polite and professional manner at all times

Person Specification

  • Experience working in an environment receiving a high volume of calls - we are looking at approx. 5000 per week

  • Knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control and operation of telecommunications systems

  • A strong multi-tasker with good organisational skills

  • Strong initiative and an uncompromising attention to detail

  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a wider team

  • Excellent communication and listening skills

  • Good IT skills and comfortable using various systems and databases
