Our client, an established and successful company based in Mitcham, South London, is looking to take on a Part-Time Sales Assistant to help with their expanding business. Your role will include generating sales opportunities for their products, plus selling membership of trade bodies, exhibition space and sponsorship packages for their conferences. You will have a sales mind, following up throughout the entire sales process from generation to closing.

Hours will be part-time working 20 hours a week. Ideally you would work some hours every day Monday to Friday, however a degree of flexibility can be afforded for the right candidate, including term time only.


Key Responsibilities

Sales generation

·         Creating opportunities from incoming sales requests and ensuring we have captured what the potential customer wants

·         Ensuring requests for information, quotations or demonstrations are dealt with, or passed on to the right person

·         Making outbound emails or calls to potential customers who have been identified as targets by market research

Sales follow-up

·         Arranging and booking sales demonstrations both online and on-site, including travel and accommodation bookings for the demonstrator if required

·         Maintaining our CRM sales system - ensuring opportunities are moved on in the right way - and other sales records as appropriate

·         Ensure potential customers who say ‘may be interested in future’ are kept as live opportunities and followed up

·         Following up sales opportunities, ensuring potential customer has the information they need, including whether downloaded demos and samples were successful

·         Reporting back on sales opportunities on a weekly and monthly basis

Closing opportunities

·         Assist potential customers throughout the order process, including ensuring they agree to our terms and conditions, and issue PO numbers where applicable and close as ‘won’

·         Where a customer has not purchased, find out why before closing opportunity as ‘lost’

Other duties

·         Providing support for conferences and awards, including communication with delegates, exhibitors, speakers, sponsors and award entries information for delegates.

·         Assisting on other projects where additional support is requested. Full training and open discussion on the time to be allocated to this work will take place before it begins

·         Carrying out any other tasks consistent with this job description or with usual activities of a sales assistant

·         Taking messages, and taking initiative in the best interests of the company when other staff not available

Person Specification

·         Confident telephone manner, clear diction

·         Well-organised with good time management skills

·         Confident IT skills including word processing, email writing, Microsoft Excel and CRM

·         Ability to work with limited supervision

·         Ability to work well as part of a new team and in wider company

·         Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure

·         Persistence and enthusiasm to learn

·         Ability to build long-term customer relationships

·         Dedication to customer servic
