IT Support Engineer

Location: Wimbledon

Permanent Full Time

Salary: £Up to £30,000 depending on experience

Our Prestigious Client is looking for an IT Support Engineer who can provide comprehensive 1st and 2nd line IT support services, covering the installation, configuration and support of IT systems. To undertake the investigation and resolution of problems in a timely manner, maintaining a high degree of customer service and ensuring that good IT service management disciplines and documentation processes are maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1st and 2nd Line technical support and maintenance for IT desktop environment including PCs, laptops, telephones and printers, voicemail, e-mail and audio-visuals
  • Maintain a high degree of customer service for all support queries and adhere to IT service management principles
  • Record, prioritise, track and monitor calls within the problem management database to the point of closure or, where necessary, escalate to the IT Manager or appropriate external technical support or third-party vendor
  • Take appropriate action to reduce repeat incidents including identification of repeated service issues, managing technical resolution, delivering training and familiarisation.
  • Maintain IT security across the network:
  • Anti-virus - ensure all devices connected to the network have managed anti-virus
  • SPAM filtering & Anti-Spyware technologies - manage and continuously improve spam filtering management and anti spyware solutions
  • Security patching - ensure that patching is carried out to all desktop PCs and Servers
  • Maintain physical security of server room and access to the premises - alarms / door entry
  • Management of VOIP & Mobile phone systems
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of systems documentation, providing build notes, system configurations, process documentation and maintain up to date logs on changes to key systems
  • Maintain (password recovery, name changes etc.)
  • Perform all aspects of Microsoft Windows AD Server administration.
  • Monitoring file servers for viruses
  • Assist in the development, maintenance and testing of the IT DR plan
  • To assist with other departmental duties where necessary
  • Due to the nature of the role, there may be a requirement to carry out some work out of office hours. This work is to be arranged in accordance with procedures designed by the IT Manger and Senior Management
  • Keep up to date with the latest technologies and maintain knowledge of relevant IT issues and equipment, undertaking and participating in training and development as necessary

Experience/ Requirements:

  • Microsoft Desktop Operating (especially Windows 8.1,10) and application systems
  • Knowledge of Office 365 Suite
  • TCP/IP and Internet technologies
  • IP based telephony systems
  • Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam software admin
  • System Builds (Laptop, Workstation/Server)
  • Android Mobile devices
  • MDM management
  • Microsoft Dynamics support and administration
  • VOIP solutions Avaya Programming
  • Office 365 Administration
  • Dell, Sever knowledge
  • Windows Server, 2012,2016 administration, Active Directory
  • Microsoft Exchange 2016
  • Microsoft Intune
  • VMware ESXi, ESX, vSphere 6.0
  • Understanding of Backup/Disaster Recovery
  • Local and wide area networking and configuration of switch / router / firewall
  • Autodesk
  • Switch Management
  • Provision of excellent customer service
  • Understands the importance of confidentiality and ensure that confidentiality is maintained
  • Understanding of Health & Safety Regulations and best practice affecting IT
  • Ability to analyse data and provide recommendations
  • Able to prioritise workload and manage conflicting demands
  • Ability to work independently within guidelines
