Legal Cashier

Location: Herne Bay

Permanent Full Time

Salary: £24,000

Monday - Friday 9am-5pm

Full time permanent - Office based but would consider hybrid for the right person

An incredible opportunity has arisen for a Legal Cashier to join and incredible team in Herne Bay.

Key Responsibilities for a Legal Cashier:

  • Responsible for completing the entire range of processing, for clients, the office, and nominal transactions
  • Assist with property transactions, checking of completion statements
  • Inspection of back-up documents and ensuring that all internal procedures have been followed;
  • Assist with maintaining Bankline CHAPS/Faster Payments templates for all payees, adding, and removing as required
  • To take card payments over the telephone and produce receipts
  • Help Credit Control with daily Cashiers’ report to ensure all transfers are made within the 14-day limit;
  • Answer to queries from fee earners and secretaries; offering support and training when needed
  • Generate cheques and sort for sending to correct branches
  • Annual archiving of accounts records and update of manual record
  • Support the processing petty cash reconciliations for all branches.
  • Support the handling of purchase ledger postings
  • Assist the Cashiers Manager and Financial Manager with month/year end queries when asked
  • Communicate with fee earners on overdue bills, fulfilling agreed actions and ensuring that accurate records are maintained
  • Support with credit control where required;
  • General task to be carried out such tasks as required to support the Accounts Department, including filing, photocopying, and other general office duties.

Key Requirements:

  • Relevant and latest accounts experience gained from within the legal industry
  • Experience processing and reviewing conveyancing completion statement
  • Institute of Legal Cashiers Diploma
  • Good all-round education
  • Familiarity with practice management systems
  • Good knowledge on the conveyancing process
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good Team working skills
  • Has a proactive attitude
  • Ability to balance priorities to meet demanding deadlines
  • Perform well especially when under pressure
  • Clean and presentable in appearance
