Internal Communications Manager – Leatherhead

£40,425 per annum

18 month contract


Our prestigious client in Leatherhead is seeking a talented Internal Communications Manager to join their team! You will be responsible for the day to day supervision of the Int & Engagement Officer & Communications Assistant. The ideal candidate will have experience of Line Management.


Job Functions:

  •          To promote a positive image of the work of the client to a range of internal and external audiences
  •          To oversee all immediate Communications requirements of the Internal and Engagement activity on behalf of the Head of Communications
  •          To develop, implement and maintain an effective Internal Engagement strategy


Role Responsibilities:

  •          Identify and propose effective & achievable plans to create an Internal and Engagement strategy to be delivered
  •          Identify all internal communications and engagement methods being used to engage with audiences and propose future requirements and alternatives
  •          Develop and lead the Internal Engagement strategy in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders and co-ordinate activity across all available mechanisms
  •          Develop methods and opportunities for regular and meaningful feedback from internal audiences
  •          Advise all staff on corporate internal messaging activity to increase awareness and support
  •          Maintain relationships with stakeholders and key personnel to ensure understanding and awareness of current ongoing events
  •          Create news stories for sharing with all internal audiences that can be promoted across channels
  •          Plan future media and communication activities and events
  •          Supervise own staff and functional activity effectively, planning and allocating resources
  •          Teach own staff to encourage optimum performance for work and behavioural standards
  •          Provide editorial leadership and direction to the wider Communications team
  •          Brief staff on relevant topics or events prior to communications activities
  •          Use all communication channels effectively
  •          Manage contracts for all related service providers
  •          Record, monitor and evaluate the success of all related functional activity, measuring outcomes
  •          Maintain and enhance personal professional knowledge in own expertise area, undertaking training as necessary



Personal Specification:

  •          Has a relevant degree or professional qualification
  •          Experience of developing two-way communications channels to engage with relevant audiences
  •          Experience of developing strategy and delivering against it to achieve corporate aims
  •          Has a high degree of interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  •          Attention to detail and an awareness of the ‘bigger picture’
  •          Proven ability to work accurately under pressure
  •          Direct experience of the active supervision or line management of staff, providing direction, development and support
  •          Has practical experience of survey and research work
