Hours: Monday – Friday 9-5.30


This is an interim job for a period of maternity cover. You will be the first point of contact for employee relations (ER) queries from the line Managers. The job holder will deal directly with as many ER queries as possible. The role will involve advising and guiding the Managers in dealing with ER issues and attending meetings when necessary.


Key Responsibilities (please note that this list is not exhaustive)

  • Be the first point of contact for all ER queries from the Managers


  • Deal directly with these ER queries through providing advice and guidance to the managers and drafting/sending formal correspondence
  • Visit staff/services to deal with ER issues (such as investigations, disciplinary, grievance, long term sickness absence, etc)
  • To work with Cohesion (recruitment provider) to ensure the quality of recruits and  effectiveness of the recruitment process
  • To be responsible for compliance with HR legislation


  • To handle resignations and responsible for exit interviews work with administrators on employee related queries
  • Represent HR at Managers Meetings


  • Provide cover for ER visits to locations as required


  • Work on employee related projects as directed by the Head of HR and/or Operations Director


  • To provide regular management information on individuals and employees – e.g. report on turnover, new hires, employee issues, etc
  • Assist in preparing the HR budget


  • To work closely with Payroll as required and other ad  hoc related work
  • You will have a knowledge of the DBS process and safeguarding too (not essential)


Person Specification


  • Have an CIPD qualification covering the key elements of the role


  • Have previous experience in an HR role with specific ER experience  a good understanding of employment legislation and best practice


  • Good interpersonal skills at all levels


  • Good written communication skills, especially in relation to writing to employees Confidence to offer opinions and alternative courses of action
  • Ability/willingness to keep up-to-date with changes to employment regulations
